Movement Control Order - Day 23
I'm thinking this would be quite an interesting time in my life to read back someday! So after all the highlights of finding out I was pregnant in February, with the increasing number of Covid 19 cases in Malaysia, our new "backdoor" government decided that we will need to start restricting movement and closing down non-essential businesses.
Just the morning before the MCO was announced, I had this spider tingling sensation behind me that it's going to happen anytime soon. So I decided to get some supplies around town, some fruits and also bought some meat, a giant-ass pumpkin for Oliver all before the prime minister's announcement. Guess pregnancy does make those spider instincts somewhat more sensitive, later that day our government announced that the order will start two days later which is 18 March 2020. I was already well-stocked from my panic attack in January after seeing the Wuhan lockdown news but offered to take my mom to the wet market the next day morning just to stock up her house. And Oh my god, the number of people crowding the Pulau Tikus market was insane! I've never seen so many people in the wet market and people were just carrying trays of eggs, buying whatever that's available and buying as much as they can. It was quite scary, we quickly grabbed what we wanted and left.
I'm now writing this post on the 23rd day of the MCO, yes we have survived a little over 3 weeks of the MCO. It was definitely a stressful time due to our business operation was much halted and affected but then resumed and affected again from the non-standardized practice among enforcers during the MCO. It has been stressful for everyone, adding up that our house is a little bit more crowded with steve's mom staying around and my mom kinda just keeps cooking around the clock.
I haven't been eating as healthily as a pregnant lady should be, and haven't really done much other than finishing the LOTR trilogy which I consider a great success for myself. I haven't cook much other than preparing breakfast for steven once in a while because my mom is taking over things in the kitchen end. Steven finally overcomes his deep depression from not being able to run to find out that running along the corridor outside our house isn't that bad after all. He has been running back and forth for more than 1.5 hours as I'm typing this.
The covid death rate is currently increasing drastically in European countries, UK and the US, and it seems to be getting worse every day. Countries recording new record-breaking death rates daily is depressing news to read, not the kind of record we want to be breaking. Malaysia is so far still alright I guess but due to lack of testing, we are unable to really know how many cases out there are still undetected. All the negative news we read day in and day out, coupled with the news that was shoved down every single Malaysian - the new government, it hasn't been easy to try to stay positive. People like me, have gone to darker sides. Oh ya, not to mention the economic crisis that we are all going through right now with our investment board looking all red and bloody.
It is truly a test for all human race, every single one of us. It's difficult but I guess we just all have to try our best to stay alive. Staying alive and try to rebuild something new, the new normal because things will never go back to the way it was. We will have come out from this and adapt to a new normal.
